Mineral water sold in plastic bottles is harmful to human society;

Water is most important for human life. About 60 percent of the human body is made of water. Man can live without food. But waterless life is a question and today we bought that water for price. People who are living in town, commercial premises and offices use can water which was purified by a process called Reverse Osmosis (RO). According to the law of government, In this process, first it removes the contaminants from unfiltered water and pressure forces it through a semi-permeable membrane. Then it was filtered in a carbon filter and pass the ultraviolet rays and flavoured then it was enclosure in cans. But some factories, for removing the contaminants they use alum stones. Carbonation of this water produces carbonic acid which causes harm to our body. The molecules found in the drinking water is T.D.S. colour arsenic, ammonia, calcium, copper, iron, chlorine, chromium are should be 10500/2012 within the specified levels of the Indian Standardization Standards (HL) approved by the standards institution of India. It is questionable whether the water contains this level or not.

The water which we used for drink is packaged drinking water (other than packaged natural mineral). Is 14543:2004 and according to Bureau of Indian standards 2006, the water must will be quality. Most of the factories, legal metrology (packaged commodity rules 2011), Food Safety and Standards (packaging and labeling) Regulation 2011, they violate these rules and articles and did not mention the batch no, expiry date and manufacture date. The reliability of water is also in question as in the Bureau of Indian Standard act 1986 and the water container which they sell must have a standardized seal affixed to the water permit, and this water storage container must be made of BIS IS 15410 standardized polyethylene, PVC material.

The container should be replaced once in a month. It is the right of every individual to get safe drinking water free from toxic germs, pesticides and chemicals. It is the duty of our government to implement this.

What are the consequences?

1. It creates heart problem and cancer.

2. The carbonated water contains a PH between 4.9-5.5. So  it affects the hardness of enamel and causes hiccups.

How can we prevent this?

1. We have to buy water to see if it has bisIS, fssai stamps. The sample of can water that you use for office and home should be inspected once in 6 months through the government laboratory operating in the respective districts to ascertain whether the properties of the drinking water comply with the criteria specified by the government as is 10500/2012-L. If  the measurements will high, send the report to Food Safety Department through whatsapp or E-mail and urge them to take action.

2. Manufacturers should avoid the use of chemicals as much as possible without considering any profit and should use quality bottles in the form of molecules found in the drinking water as per the criteria specified by the government of IS-10500/2012. Properly cleaned and sold.

3. The Food Safety Department of the Government of Tamil Nadu and the Central Pesticide Board should conduct systematic inspections and take stern against manufacturers who play with people’s lives and create awareness among the people, traders and manufacturers.
